What Is The New Offside Law Proposed By Arsene Wenger?-Football's new Offside Rule Explained.

Arsene Wenger the legendary Arsenal Manager, is also FIFA's Chief Of Global Football Development.  He recently has come up with a really refreshing Idea for the development of Football.

Wenger has proposed a new tweak in the current Offside law in which VAR makes almost every Offside decision.  The current system has sparked a lot of controversies as even a finger or a hair outside the line provided by the
System leads to offside.  This has affected attacking football as goal per game ratio is reducing year by year in all of Europe's 5 major leagues.  Especially in the high scoring Premier League the goal per game ratio this season has reduced to a 2.6.  Last season over 40 goals were turned down by VAR.

This VAR system that measures by inches is not so good for football.  Over the years the Offside rule had underwent some desirable tweaks.

During the earlier days when the Offside rule was first introduced attacker had to have 3 defenders along with the Goal Keeper to stay on side.  Some tweaks have now given us the modern rule of At least One Defender before goal to stay on side.  But the introduction of VAR predicting Offside has really made awful, even a hair ahead of the defender is said to be Offside.  Wenger has come up with a refreshing rule that would boost life into modern football.  Let us find out what Wenger really has come up with.

Arsene Wenger has been a longtime hater of VAR and his new Offside Rule really takes VAR out of the game.  He says that "A Player can still be on side if any part of his body that he uses to score is in line with the last defender"

This new rule has adverse positives.  Firstly, this would reduce the time consumption.  This would save the time taken to check Offsides with VAR.  So the Flow of the game would not get disrupted.

Then, this would promote attacking football.  Teams would now like to have their back line pretty high to make an Offside trap.  This would create more space between the defenders and Goal Keeper and would enhance players to try more over the field passes and through passes.

So teams now would develop their players in such a way that their Passing accuracy is top notch.

This would not only make a high back line, some teams tend to park the bus like Jose's teams by having a very low back line.  This would make the attacking teams to send more players forward leaving the back line vulnerable.  So this gives chance for the defending team to start a counter attack.  What this does is it makes football more exciting.  More of an end to end action.

When Wenger proposed this to FIFA President Gianni Infantino, Infantino backed Wenger at IFab's Annual General Meeting.

And he said that any changes that make football attractive without changing it's nature is welcomed.  He also added that this new law gives more freedom to attackers and promotes attacking football.  He then said, "
such a change would need to be tested. We have to see what kind of impact this will have on the game".

He promised to give this new law a trial but as for now and this season, Nothing is quite sure, VAR will continue to rule out goals.  But promotion of this law will really promote attacking football and make football more exciting to watch.
