Match Review-Kolkata Knight Riders Vs Sunrisers Hyderabad-Match No.35-Dream 11 IPL 2020

Welcome back to another match review and today, we are looking back at the match held between KKR and SRH at sheikh zayed stadium.  The match was the first one of the two matches that are two be held on sunday, so now let us get into the toss and then into the review.

1.  The Toss:

The toss was won by David Warner and he chose to bowl.  Which was seen as a strange move, because SRH have never won chasing in this IPL.

SRH came with two changes as Nadeem and Khaleel sat out and Samad and Thampi came in.  KKR made two changes as Lockie Ferguson and Kuldeep Yadav came in for Chris Green and Prasidh Krishna.  So now let us get to the first innings.

2.  First Innings:

In the first innings KKR started off well with Gill and Tripathi.  Who got the score to 48 in the powerplay until Tripathi got out right at the end of the powerplay.  After that the innings was stagnant and the run rste slowed down.  Gill and Rana were showing a bit of intent but both of them returned back to the pavilion in the space of a run.  Then, Dre Russ struggled for form and timing and then it was left with Eoin Morgan yet again to perform the rescue services.  And he did it well with Dinesh Karthik for his support.

Due to that crucial partnership, KKR posted a decent total of 163.  SRH needed a 164 to win the game, will they make it? Let us find out.

3.  Second Innings:

In the second innings, Warner Surprised everyone by sending Bairstow and Williamson to open and it did work.  They built a very good and steady partnership, but once again it lasted only until the powerplay, Williamson was struggling with his hamstring and he was dismissed by Lockie Ferguson.  Then Ferguson came back and took away the wicket of Priyam Garg.  Then Varun Chakravarthy dismissed Set, Bairstow and then Manish Pandey and Warner were looking to build a nice litle partnership, but yet again, Ferguson came in and stole the wicket of Manish Pandey.  Ferguson was superb overall.  He conceded just 8 off his 3 overs and picked a wicket whenever he came on.

After that crisis, Warner and Shankar were involved in an attempt to win the game, but Shankar didn't support Warner as he was dismissed by Patrick Cummins.  Then, the Kashmiri Chilli Abdul Samad played a little cameo alongside Warner, but he too didn't finish the game completely.  Then Dre Russ came in for the last over and somehow pushed the game into the super over.  So now let us see whether KKR could steal the game away in the super over.

The Super Over:

In the super over KKR got in their main man Lockie Ferguson as expected.  And it was like we were seeing a super over replay of the KXIP Vs DC.  SRH lost their mind and lost the super over in their batting innings itself.

Warner got out for a duck and Samad could not muster up more than 2 runs.  In the KKR innings, KKR had to chase a very low score of 2 and they did it pretty succesfully.  So that is the end of this match review, SRH lost a game that was in their grasp all the time.  KKR though were brilliant to push the game into the superover and then use thier best bowler to do the remaining work that was left.  So now here I leave you with the match summary.

Final Summary:

     KKR: 163/5 20 Overs; 3/0 (Super Over)
