Match Review-Kolkata Knight Riders Vs Sunrisers Hyderabad-Match No.8-Dream 11 IPL 2020

Welcome everyone, and again it is a match review, and today the match review is about the IPL match held between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders.  Both had lost their first games and were looking to register their first point in the league.  KKR however had more stability than SRH and had an upper hand in this match.  So let us get to the toss.

1.  The Toss:

The toss was won by Sunrisers Hyderabad and they tried differently by choosing to bat first.

Sunrisers were back after losing to RCB and KKR were back here at Abu Dhabi after losing to MI at the same venue.  Sunrisers made two changes by removing Vijay Shankar and Injured Mitchell Marsh.  They were replaced by Wriddhiman Saha and Khaleel Ahmed respectively.  If you consider KKR, they replaced Nikhil Naik and Sandeep Warrier with Kamlesh Nagarkoti and Varun Chakravarthy respectively.  Varun Chakravarthy made his debut for KKR.

2.  First Innings:

SRH started the innings decently as Warner played well along one side.  Bairstow perished but Warner continued from one side.  To assist Warner, in came Manish Pandey.  Then Warner perished and the Run Rate slowed up incredibly.  It was Chakravarthy who dismissed Warner.  Chakravarthy came in with big hype and expectations last year at KXIP.  But he conceded a lot, as KXIP released him. In the 2020 auction he was once again a crorepati but his value was lesser than last time.

This time around for KKR he really performed well and really could go all the way if he performs consistently.

So let's come back into the game, after Warner was dismissed, runs came on but, relatively at a slow rate.  Pandey crossed 50 and Saha scored 30 off 31 balls.  Then, two fours from Nabi, and they stumbled through for a score of 142/4 in 20 overs.  It must be an easy  chase.  So come on let us find out whether KKR chased it out or not.

3.  Second Innings:

It was an easy chase and KKR never really struggled in their way through.  Narine got out for a duck.  Gill and Rana stitched a quick and small partnership with Rana striking at 200.  Rana got out to Natarajan and Karthik departed very quickly.  So now really the game was on balance.  From that point they needed nearly 90 off 90 balls.  There was no scoreboard pressure it was just a run a ball required.

So Gill and Morgan slowly took the game forward.  Gill was already set and was moving the game at a constant pace with Morgan by his side.  They rotated the strike well which was the reason that they chased it with very much ease.

The field placement and bowling changes were really sick.  David Warner needs to recapture form both with bat and with captaincy.  It is very early to call, but if SRH don't work it out off the field, then this season would really become disastrous.  So let us get to the final summary.

Final Summary:

          SRH: 142/4

         Manish Pandey: 51(38); W.Saha: 30(31)

          KKR: 145/3

          S.Gill: 70(62); E.Morgan: 42(29)
